Spread the word that I use tampons in the shower

I was incredibly disturbed when a friend saw me using a tampon while showering at the gym and told it to our other friend group. Do you think it’s normal for privacy to be spread this way? When I think about it, it feels like it was only discussed among friends, but it still seemed disrespectful to me. I want to react, but I also don’t want to make the situation more tense. What would you do in a situation like this?

I don’t think it’s something that needs to be blown out of proportion. I mean, you aren’t the first person to use a tampon in the shower, after all. Your friend might have just described it like a normal conversation, not a big deal. Honestly, I wouldn’t stress about stuff like that

Come on, would a friend really tell someone something like that? There’s such a thing as privacy. This is just plain rude. I think you should speak openly and say you’re uncomfortable. Otherwise, this will just get bigger

Is this the first time he’s doing something like this? I mean, does he usually explain things like this or is there some bad blood between you?

@dilek77 This isn’t actually the first time. They’ve leaked little things to others before, but this time it was just too much.

Such situations can be socially challenging. Violating privacy among friends can create serious distrust. There’s no need to delve into the legal aspect, but you may need to draw your boundaries socially. I think it’s best to express your discomfort politely but clearly.

@soran you just said that “they’ve done it before.” I think this person might have targeted you a bit or could be jealous. Or maybe they wanted to stir things up in the group and bring you down.

@lila_dusunce I don’t think what you’re saying is correct. It’s easy to say that these kinds of things shouldn’t matter, but everyone’s privacy is different. Feeling uncomfortable is a valid thing

Years ago, I experienced something similar. It was a relative of mine who had shared a private conversation with others. I didn’t deny the event in front of them, but I distanced myself. They regretted what they did, but it was too late :woman_facepalming:
