My boyfriend keeps putting his phone down upside down

I’ve noticed lately that he really leaves his phone face down as much as possible. He used to pay attention to it before, but it doesn’t seem like to this extent. Should I be suspicious, or should I respect his privacy? I wonder if I should talk about this, or am I just making a big deal out of nothing?

I think this behavior is called ‘hiding’. It doesn’t matter if it’s a woman or a man; if someone is overly exaggerating the creation of personal space, it’s very likely that something fishy is going on. Ask them, openly, why they’re acting all defensive

My daughter, if I had a son and he did something

But why do we have to interpret it negatively? Maybe the notifications are bothering them or they find it distracting to look up at the front face. Quick question, did you say anything to them before that expressed distrust regarding the phone? Could their behavior have changed because of that? :face_exhaling:

The issue of placing the phone face down is generally related to feelings of anxiety or control. If there’s insecurity, it’s healthiest to talk openly about it, but if your worries are persistent, it can also trigger a type of anxiety disorder. If necessary, you can seek support from a therapist.

Let me update you: It’s actually not just about putting it upside down, sometimes when a notification comes in on his phone while he’s next to me, he immediately turns it off without making it obvious. He never just looks at it directly in front of me. If I said it doesn’t bother him, that would seem strange to me.
