My spouse is keeping me away from their phone, what do you think is the reason?

My spouse has been spending more time on their phone for the past two months. Normally, I would know the password, but now they keep the phone away from me, saying, 'I have private matters.' Honestly, I don't feel very comfortable about this. What should I do? Should I ask directly or should I observe a bit first?

Let me be clear, anyone who says to me "I have special things going on" is definitely hiding something on their phone. I would ask straight away, "What do you mean by 'special things'?" If they can't answer, then the issue is already clear!

It's sensible to ask directly, but in a calm manner. You can start the conversation by saying, 'You've been keeping me away from the phone lately, is something going on?' But not in an accusatory way, or else it might backfire.

Things like this really stress a person out. If it were me, I would try to check the phone at some point. No exaggeration, you know, just to see what’s open on the screen and such. So, you’d collect some evidence before asking.

What kind of perspective is this? Just go through their phone, find proof or something? I don't understand when people stopped respecting each other's privacy. This doesn't work with one-sided trust.

Trust issues are a significant factor in relationships. In such situations, it's important to have a calm and solution-oriented conversation. Instead of guessing the problem, express it clearly and avoid blaming without concrete evidence.

I tried to update the conversation. They told me, 'you're overcomplicating things with your phone' and closed the topic. Do you think I should pursue it further or wait a bit? 😬
