I dyed my hair at home and it turned out a greenish color

I started a project on my own again to avoid going to the hairdresser. I tried to lighten my hair at home with a dye, but the roots turned orange and the ends became a strange greenish color. I wonder if dyeing it ash brown on top would cover it up, or would it make it worse? Honestly, I can’t even go outside looking like this. If you have any knowledge on this, please let me know; I really don't want to spend a fortune at the salon, but the situation is genuinely dire.
