I got married but I can't tell my family I'm pregnant

Honestly, I didn't think I would panic this much over a tiny test. I found out I'm pregnant, but I'm scared to tell my family because they might be too involved and meddle in everything. My husband says to let me be, but there are also traditional pressures on one side. What should I do, who is right?

I don't think you have to explain everything, Ailene. Pregnancy is something personal to you and your spouse; if you get stressed when others get involved, you should set some distance. Establish your boundaries clearly from the beginning so it doesn't become even harder later.

If your spouse is acting relaxed, maybe they don't want to put too much pressure on your family either? Men sometimes don't want to exert too much effort in these kinds of matters. But still, he needs to understand your feelings; have a calm conversation and explain that to him.

Before sharing the news of your pregnancy, establish a joint strategy with your partner. If your family is pushing boundaries, explain that the stress during this time could be harmful to you and the baby. If there are significant boundary violations, you can seek support from a family counselor.

The problem here isn't family, it's your indecision. You say you're scared, yet you complain about traditional pressures. So take a clear stance: either keep it to yourself or say it and set boundaries 😅

I think there are few details about your spouse here. Does he really say 'leave me alone', or has he just left you alone? Because if the family starts controlling the atmosphere, it seems to me that what you said will be hard to listen to later 😅

Let me add that my spouse is really a very easy-going person, and if I tell my family, it will still seem like my responsibility. But I am caught in a dilemma because if my family finds out, they will be extremely worried. Honestly, I don't want to be constantly called.

Ailen is thinking of you, they wouldn't do it with bad intentions. In situations like this, family support is essential because this is your first time becoming a mother after all. It's normal to set some distance, but you can find a middle ground without too much stress. 😐

I understand the part about not telling your family because sometimes just a phone ringing can make a person tense. Especially if they’re going to get involved in everything from your clothes to what you eat. But I think your partner should step in a bit on your behalf; don’t take on all the burdens yourself 😅
