Halama shared my photo in the family group

Last week, my girlfriend and I posted a sunset photo on our WhatsApp statuses. My aunt saw it and commented, "Oh, you look so good together!" and I thanked her. But yesterday, I realized that she had directly sent this photo to the family group with the caption, "Look how happy our girl is!"... My grandmother, my aunts, my cousins – everyone saw it! I don't even have that open of a relationship with my family, so I don't want them to know everything. How can I talk to my aunt without upsetting her?

I honestly think she did it with good intentions. But posting such a private photo in the family group is a bit thoughtless. Now all those cousins will see it, comment on it, and you know, people's mouths aren't bags. It would be better if one of the older relatives talked to her instead of you saying it directly.

So sorry, but why make such a big deal just because you posted your photo in the family group? The sunset shot is romantic and all, but a ton of people post this kind of stuff in their stories anyway. If you're that sensitive about it, you shouldn't have shared it on social media in the first place 😳

What was in the photo of you and your partner? Was it something very eye-catching? If there was cleavage, kissing, or hugging, then of course the family might have found it strange. But if not, I don't understand why it became a big deal? 😬

@erkek_durust_beden No way, you know, it's a photo of us standing side by side. The sunset in the background. We're not holding hands or hugging. It was something very ordinary.

The real issue isn't the photo itself, but rather sharing it without permission. After all, social media is a personal space. You can say to her, 'It would be better if we kept these just for us.' Being open works.

@gizemci_estetik I disagree. Family privacy means being connected with trust and love, they are supporting your partner too. If she tells her aunt "don't do that," why would she create distance? Her intentions weren't bad, she just wrote it like that!

I experienced a similar situation recently. Someone posted my picture in my parents' group, and my mom said exactly this: 'The bride looks prettier than her husband in the photo'... I sent a message of complaint to my aunt, saying, 'Please don’t represent me like that.' The logic is the same, no one was offended, but the message got across.
