I've been experiencing increased burning and itching during urination, and I'm embarrassed to see a doctor

I've been experiencing a burning sensation while urinating for the last few days, and I've got itching down there that's becoming increasingly uncomfortable. But talking about these kinds of things to a doctor feels incredibly hard for me. I haven't been able to tell anyone about it; I wonder if I could just get something from the pharmacy to solve it? Or do I need to go directly to a urologist or gynecologist? I really don't know, I'm feeling very uncertain.

I think you should go directly to obstetrics. I know urology is mostly for the bladder and kidneys, but if there's itching, obstetrics will take care of it. You don't have to explain everything there; just say 'I came for burning and itching during urination,' and they'll ask for the details. By the way, trying to solve it with a pharmacy is risky; if you take the wrong medication, it could make things worse.

You mentioned itching, could it possibly be an allergy or something? Because it seems related to urination, but I thought it might also be an allergy. For example, did you just change your pad or underwear? Maybe the fabric or the detergent used is different.

What your friend said about 'drugstore cream' is a bit risky because itching could be a fungus, burning could be a urinary tract infection, and there could be different things. Generally, there isn't a single medicine that addresses both. You either need to get a urine test or a gynecologist may want a vaginal check for the itching. It seems more appropriate to go directly to the doctor.

Thank you so much, friends! It seems like going to an obstetrician makes sense, so I'll do that. But by the way, I feel like the itching started after I got a new pad. That's why I was going to stop by the pharmacy to ask for cream for a fungal infection, but I'm still indecisive.

But I don't think it's about the pedal or anything, it all seems like stress to me. You're embarrassed to say you went to the doctor, something's obviously putting pressure on you. Find a solution to that pressure, otherwise it might keep repeating. Maybe you're tensing up for no reason. Just think about it.
