I'm going to see a gynecologist for the first time, is it really that scary?

Guys, I'm 22 years old and my period irregularities have increased quite a lot lately. To be honest, I'm hesitant to go to the doctor; I can say I'm scared or embarrassed. Is a gynecological examination really that bad? What was it like for those who went for the first time? Can you tell me a bit about it? Or is it not as exaggerated as people say?

I also went to the gynecologist for the first time due to irregular periods. To be honest, it wasn't as scary as I thought; the doctor was very calm. Initially, they do an ultrasound anyway, and if anything detailed is needed, they get your approval.

I was in a similar situation last year, and I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. But it wasn't as exaggerated as people say; the doctor explained everything gently. If you have irregular periods, you should definitely go see a doctor.

I understand that you're scared, but remember, symptoms like this can lead to other issues in the long run. Irregular menstruation can sometimes be a sign of hormonal imbalance or something more serious. A gynecological examination is a medically routine procedure, and there's nothing to be ashamed of.

If you're 22 years old and still too embarrassed to go to the doctor, that's your issue. Health shouldn't be neglected; I think what's speaking here is not fear or shame, but your lack of awareness.

Friends, thank you for the comments. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of going, but I still feel some anxiety inside. I'm afraid there might be pain or strain. Is it always like this during general check-ups?

Is the schedule completely irregular, or are there just occasional delays? Because what you call irregularity seems like a big problem.

This fear and shame are entirely the result of societal pressure, just so you know. No woman's health should be sacrificed to such prejudices. Your health is your right.

I think you're not only worried about your period, but maybe about something else too. Because so much fear can often hide another concern. Maybe if you talk to a doctor, you'll find a more comfortable solution.

Honey, what kind of fear is this? You need to go to think about your health. My daughter is also 21 years old, she went last year. Nothing happened, don't be afraid. They see dozens of women every day 😅
