My husband keeps making excuses to escape from home

There has been a strange coldness in our marriage for a while, but instead of discussing it, my spouse keeps bringing up work overload. Last weekend, I suggested we spend some time together, and they said they had work in the office. But I don't find the work excuse that convincing. Do you think this is an escape, or am I just being paranoid for no reason? Should I try not to push it further?

How long have things been like this? Did he ever make time to spend with you before, or has he always been a busy person?

Clearly, plan something together for the weekend, like having a meal outside or going to the cinema. If he makes excuses about work again, calmly express your feelings. If necessary, suggest seeing a therapist.

I experienced the same thing; my spouse keeps saying it's work, but they were actually going through burnout. We sought psychological support and started addressing it by talking once a week. Yours might be similar.

I think it's not an escape from work, maybe he's doing it to collect his thoughts. Men sometimes distance themselves when they can't solve problems because they need to distract themselves.

I don't know, but another possibility suddenly occurred to me. Is he really working at the office, or is there another reason? I think you need to ask him 😂

You owe her open communication. Instead of making excuses, she needs to talk clearly about whether she really has work or not. If she continues with this approach, she's disregarding your peace of mind.

Actually, there are many men who do this. The excuse of work can sometimes be not just an escape but also an effort to clear one’s mind. But if there is a lack of communication, it won't be resolved quickly.

Maybe you're pushing too hard? Perhaps if you really gave them some space for a while, you'd get rid of this coldness, because not everyone responds well to that kind of pressure 🤭

I should also add that my spouse used to completely dedicate Sundays to me. Now, they're always busy with something. That seems to be the problem. Should I try starting again? 🫢
