The hairdresser made my hair look like coal, seeking solutions

Yesterday I went to the hairdresser for an ombre, but the result is disappointing. The last layer of dye turned out so dark that it looks like an artificial black. They said they'll fix it, but I'm worried my hair will get even more damaged. Has anyone experienced something like this before? What should I do?
