The hairdresser ruined my hair, I feel ugly

I wanted to add a little shimmer to my own hair color, but the hairdresser literally made it a different color and cut it way too short. I can’t even recognize myself when I look in the mirror; I don't even want to go to work. Do you think I should go to another hairdresser right away or should I wait for a while and see if it gets better? Have you ever experienced something like this?

I've been to the hairdresser just once before the finals week. They thinned my eyebrows saying they would 'shape them up' and cut my hair really short. My friends laughed a lot, but then I got it fixed at another salon. I think you shouldn't waste time, get some help right away 🤦‍♀️

I experienced a similar situation before going on my honeymoon last summer. While I wanted my hair to be ash blonde, it turned out bright orange. Definitely don't wait; the dye will get worse over time. Go to a place you trust and ask for a toner.

Well, honestly, it might be because you weren't very clear either. "Adding a shine" is a very broad interpretation. Maybe the hairdresser misunderstood. I think you should have explained it better at first 🙄

Hairstylist mistakes can usually be solved with the right analysis. There are options like completely rinsing out the dye or toning it with a color transition. If a very dark color has been applied, a proper lightening process is needed, but this should be done by someone skilled to avoid damaging the hair 😬

Thank you for the responses. Let me add that I actually showed a few sample photos before getting it done, but it still turned out differently. I think it was more of a "this color suits you better" situation, and they went ahead with their own preference.

So how much shorter is your hair right now? It's understandable that you're feeling bad, but maybe you can sort it out by tying it up or styling it. What color did they exactly dye it? Could you explain? 😅

My daughter, you shouldn't trust someone who doesn't do their job properly. It always ends up like this... But don't let it get you down, hair grows. There's no such thing as ugliness; you just aren't used to your true self. Go to a hairdresser and find a proper solution right away.
