My cousin said it could be a cyst, I'm afraid of the doctor

I've had irregular periods in the last few months, sometimes they're two weeks late and sometimes they come very early. While talking casually with my cousin, she said, "It could definitely be a cyst, you should get it checked out." But the truth is, I'm really scared to go to the doctor. I've never been to a gynecologist. What if it's something serious or if I feel really bad during the exam? What should I do in this case? Do you think it would be bad to delay it?

I think you shouldn't procrastinate at all. There's no need to be so afraid of going to the doctor; most women start with the same nervousness in gynecology. I had a cyst a while ago (they called it a chocolate cyst), and I was delaying going to the doctor too. But later it turned out that if I had sought early intervention, I would have dealt with it more easily. So, as you said, if there's irregular menstruation, the doctor can speak clearly about it.

@mehmet07 honestly, both the idea of the examination and the possibility of something serious coming up makes me uneasy. I guess it's because I've never experienced it before. Also, I'm worried that if my family hears about it, they'll keep talking about it.
