Swelling in a private area, I'm embarrassed to see a doctor. Should I?

I have had a swelling in my groin area for the last week, it feels like something hard. It hurts a little when I touch it, but not enough to be bothersome. To be honest, I feel hesitant to go to the doctor about this, I'm embarrassed. I haven't shared it with anyone yet, could this be something serious? Should I wait, or do I definitely need to see a doctor?

I had something the size of a pea in my groin area once, just like you said, it hurt when I touched it. I waited for a while, but when it grew, I had to go to the doctor. It was a pilonidal cyst, and it was resolved with a simple operation.

A friend of mine had something similar in our dorm; he said it was a swelling like a hazelnut. He waited at first, but when the pain increased, he went to get it checked, and they said it was a lipoma. So, it doesn't necessarily mean it's something bad, but it's best to have it looked at.

Look, it's normal to be embarrassed since it's a private area, but there's no shame in health matters. The firmness, pain, and duration of the swelling are important. Also, pay attention to whether it has grown or not. If you tell these to a doctor, it can be resolved quickly.

I was wondering, do you feel something like heat when you touch it? This symptom seems to be important for some swellings. Also, is it in other places too, or just one spot? 😂

Yes, I don't think it has grown in one spot, but I guess it has hardened a bit. I don't feel anything like warmth, but the pain increases a lot when I press down.

The thing you call shame stems from social pressure. It's not your fault for feeling ashamed of your private parts, but that can't be an excuse for not going to the doctor. The boundaries you speak of in health are already protected by professionalism.

I heard somewhere that swollen groin is a bad sign. But maybe that's true, I'm not sure now. Still, you should ask the doctor.

Just wait a minute, don’t immediately say it’s a ‘bad sign’ or anything. You won't let a person feel at ease until they go to the doctor, right? Maybe it’s actually a very simple thing; this situation can happen to anyone.
