My skin is ruined after wearing a mask

I tried a new clay mask I saw in a YouTube video, but the result wasn’t what I imagined. My skin is currently flaky and slightly red. I didn’t actually have very dry skin, but this feels like it burned. Do you experience things like this after a mask too? Can you recommend a serum or moisturizer, or am I using the wrong mask?

Honey, your skin looks clearly sensitive. Masks like these don’t suit every skin type anyway. It happened to me too; I used them just because they were trendy, but I regretted it. For a while, apply some intensive moisturizer or something, and it will get better.

I had a similar experience after using a mask too. It turned out it had a high acid content, and it literally damaged my skin. It might have been too harsh for your skin as well. I don't think you should try it again; maybe see a dermatologist.

Get a soothing serum right away, something with panthenol might work. Then apply a thick moisturizer on top. If the redness doesn't go away, it might require a doctor's attention.

To be honest, let me tell you something: these things can't be done just by looking at YouTube. Trying every mask without getting a skin analysis done is risky. You've harmed yourself; it's not the mask that's guilty, just you. 🙄

Peeling and redness usually indicate that the mask has damaged the skin barrier. Some clay masks can be too drying. You may have developed an allergy to one of the ingredients. I recommend consulting a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I looked in the mirror today, the redness has decreased but there's still a lot of dryness. I bought a heavy moisturizer and I'm applying it. I'm thinking of going to the dermatologist, but right now the mask is probably going to the trash anyway.

What I don't understand is, don't the people who make those videos on YouTube bear any responsibility? Knowing that such things can happen to people's skin, why do they promote them as if they are suitable for everyone? I think we are being quite manipulated.

Those who create this kind of content are overemphasizing to exploit women's perception of beauty. It's not your fault; the real fault lies with the industry that normalizes this. Your skin is under your control; they shouldn’t pressure you with market products.
