While talking to my fiancé, I mentioned that I don’t use tampons during my period. Can you believe it, he said, ‘It’s time to move on to more modern methods.’ I felt like he was trying to make decisions about my body. Should I try to understand him, or is this a boundary violation?

7Your body, your choice. His perception of modernity doesn’t have to align with your preferences. Either set clear boundaries, or question the engagement, I think. Pressuring on such a matter is really a red flag.
So, has she done this before? Has there been a time when she told you to ‘think modern’ or something like that regarding your period or anything else? ![]()
@sorgulayan Yes, the other day she said something like, ‘you should have your period more easily now, women shouldn’t have to struggle so much at work.’ She always has this thought of ‘let’s improve’ in her mind, but I feel it’s a bit too intrusive.
Actually, your fiancé might not have said it from a bad place; while talking about modernity, perhaps they meant comfort. But of course, if you don’t want to, they can’t force you. The so-called modernity shouldn’t override your decisions.
It’s your body, your choice. Using tampons is entirely a personal thing. Instead of succumbing to pressure, talk about it clearly ![]()
@zevk_goreceli Please don’t normalize intervening in a woman’s body under the guise of modernization. This is not called ‘development,’ it’s plain oppression.
Once, someone told me that my hair would look better if I dyed it. I still feel sad every time that moment comes to mind. While things like this may seem small, they can be very damaging to a person’s sense of self. I think we shouldn’t take this lightly.
