My boyfriend and I have been using the same credit card for a while, making separate purchases. However, this month I noticed on the statement that he has charged his expenses to me. He has completely left the debt that he needs to pay on my shoulders. I talked to him about it, and he said, ‘I’ll take it out next month, I’ll pay it,’ but he continues to use it. Honestly, it bothers me a lot, but on the other hand, I don’t want our relationship to suffer. Do you think I’m being too accommodating?

5I was using a credit card jointly with my girlfriend too, then I realized that similar things were happening. She promised to pay but didn’t. Finally, the limit was reached, and my credit score dropped dramatically. I immediately separated the cards, there was a fight, but what can you do? I think you should stop it right now, or else it will escalate.
So what are the expenses generally about? I mean, is it for entertainment, food, etc.? Or are they serious needs? I think you need to be open about this while discussing.
@rumuz2 more eating out, sometimes their own needs. Nothing has been bought for me, completely personal expenses.
@rumuz1 you have made this the reason for the breakup directly, not everyone behaves so radically. I think we should talk first; it can be resolved through understanding.
Topics like money can be tricky in a relationship. But if the credit statement is coming to you right now, it means the responsibility is yours. Legally, even if the spending is theirs, the obligation to pay could be yours. It might be a good idea to open a separate account urgently.
