Does staying home on Sunday evening make you feel more overwhelmed?

Why does someone who spends the weekend at home start feeling restless on Sunday evening? Even if the chores are done, their mind turns to getting ready for the next day. Do you think staying home makes this feeling worse? How do you spend your Sunday evenings?

Do they go to work on weekdays, or work from home? That Sunday evening feeling may also come from the Monday routine.

Sunday evening already feels like a preview of Monday.

I don’t think having finished the housework explains it on its own. The house getting quiet, plans for the next day, or even not going out all weekend could each play a part. And does “puttering around at home” mean relaxing, or putting things off and then remembering everything in the evening? The same Sunday evening can mean two different things for two different lives; there’s no need to immediately look for a major problem with the household routine.

@yorgunpersembe, I’m asking about someone who works from home; since they’re home on weekdays too, the weekend might feel less different. @tersminder, you’re right, keeping busy at home doesn’t always mean relaxing. I was wondering which has more of an effect: staying home or thinking about Monday.

Spending the weekend at home may not be good for everyone, but let’s not present going out as a prescription either. Noticing over a few weeks when your mood dips—for example, whether it’s housework or getting ready for the next day—might be a more useful clue.
