My cousin is afraid of getting examined for irregular periods

She is experiencing issues due to irregular periods, but she hasn't been able to make an appointment. Perhaps it's because of the typical "girls-only" thoughts, but health is really important! How can I convince her? How normal is this situation?

How many months have they been experiencing irregularity? Has it happened just once or has it been like this for a long time?

I used to be really scared to go, I was pretty anxious the first time, but I felt relieved after talking to the doctor. Once it goes, if it's serious, maybe treatment will be necessary.

So why are we normalizing this fear? It's health, and you have to see a doctor regardless of your fear. It's wrong to see this as a "girl thing."

@soncaykaldi it has actually been like this for about 5-6 months, at first I didn’t care much, thought it would get better.

There can be many causes of menstrual irregularity: stress, hormonal imbalance, polycystic ovary syndrome, even thyroid issues. A woman needs to see a gynecologist because it's important to understand the seriousness of the situation.

@kirmizikazak actually, people can be uncertain about their bodies, and it's important to empathize. Maybe they're afraid of something else.

Just take it by force, then say thank you.

Could she be more ashamed than afraid or concerned about privacy? If so, maybe explaining in detail what will happen when she contacts and goes to see a female doctor could help her relax a bit. But if it's been 5-6 months, she shouldn't just brush it off.
