I have irregular periods, my girlfriend said it's a pill

I've recently noticed changes in my menstrual cycle, and I think it's due to stress or something else. But my boyfriend keeps suggesting that I use birth control pills because of it. He says, 'It will be convenient, everyone is using it,' but I don't even have the courage to go to the doctor. I'm also hesitant about hormone supplements. Do you think this is really such a simple solution, do you use it?

I used it for a while, I was quite comfortable at first but then I experienced serious side effects. My menstrual irregularity improved but other hormonal imbalances emerged. To be honest, I would definitely say never start without seeing a doctor.

How old are you and is the disorder happening constantly or occasionally? Also, why does your partner care so much about this issue?

@pazardandondum I'm 24 years old, and for the last 5-6 months, I've been irregular. So it's not an extreme situation, but my girlfriend keeps pressuring me saying, 'You'll feel better.'

@camkenari don't exaggerate this much, not everyone experiences the same side effects. I've been using it for 3 years, and I haven't had any problems. After all, the doctor adjusts the dosage and individual constitution.

Hormonal birth control pills should only be started under medical supervision as their effects can vary for each individual. The side effects and dosages of medications used to regulate menstruation can also differ from those used for birth control purposes. First, visit a gynecologist; blood tests may also be necessary.

I guess only my partner's attitude bothered me. Okay, they expressed their opinion, but insisting "everyone is doing it" is strange. Why does it have such an effect on your decision?

First of all, it's silly for your partner to act like a doctor. Irregular periods can result from very simple reasons. Insisting on a "pill as a quick solution" without going is an aggressive approach.
