I got angry with my mom about my irregular period

My menstrual cycle has been seriously off for about 3 months now, sometimes starting 10 days early and sometimes 15 days late. To be honest, I’m hesitant to tell my mom because she would want me to see a gynecologist right away. But what if there really is a problem? Should I deal with this alone, or should I involve my family? What would you do?

I honestly experienced the same thing. My period was either early or late for 2-3 months at one point. I seemed like I wasn’t stressed from the outside, but I was in exam period and my mind was always occupied. They did a hormone test on me, nothing came up but they gave me some mild sedatives. I definitely suggest you share this with your mom; sometimes thinking alone can cause even more stress.

I went through the same thing, my dear. Even if nothing comes out, it just eats away at you inside. I went to the gynecologist, and I had an ovarian cyst, but it went away on its own within 1-2 months. I’m not saying it has to be something serious, but talk to your mom and get support; it’s easier to handle when you’re aware.

I think by worrying this much, you’re making the irregularity worse. I mean, your period is already directly linked to stress, and right now you might be exhausting your body by thinking, ‘Is something wrong?’ and getting worked up. Try to calm down first; involving your mom might just create more panic. Sometimes it’s better to deal with things on your own.

Menstrual irregularity can stem from issues like nutritional disorders, stress, or sleep irregularities, but it may also indicate an underlying hormonal or physical problem. Being 10 days early or 15 days late could signify more than just a minor irregularity. It’s important to visit a qualified gynecologist, and having your mother support you during this process is also significant. It doesn’t seem like something that can be handled alone.

Thanks to everyone, when a few people wrote, I started to think about the ‘stress’ part. I’m actually not aware of it, but maybe I’m stressing a lot because it’s exam year. I was already tense at the beginning thinking my mom would pressure me more if she noticed. I’ll try to calm down and talk like that.

It’s exam year, huh? If you feel guilty on the days you wake up and don’t study, it could be directly related to irregularities in your period. Mine was also out of whack for about 20 days, and thinking about that irregularity when you wake up just makes it worse. Before you tell your mom, take a day to rest and bring it up without pushing yourself too hard.
