My period is late, my girlfriend said it’s due to stress

This is the first time I'm experiencing something like this. My period is 15 days late, and I told my boyfriend. Instead of the support I expected, he said, "You must be stressed," and dropped the subject. I suggested getting a test from the pharmacy, but he thinks that's not necessary either. Honestly, I'm very uneasy; it's never been this late before. Am I just putting pressure on myself, or how can I convince him to take this more seriously?

A 15-day delay is serious, especially since you say it has never happened before. A test is definitely necessary. So even if your partner is not someone who supports you in these matters, it’s ultimately about your health. Take a test, and then you can decide if you need to see a doctor.

I think the real issue here is your partner's attitude. You're talking about something serious, and they're brushing it off... If they’re not going to support you, then why even be a partner? These tests, doctors, they all have to be done anyway, but a person should at least show some interest.

Have you never gone to the doctor for that much delay? Or is that guy still stalling you by saying 'stress'? You need to be a bit clearer.

@atismaci no, I haven't gone to the doctor yet; I don't know if it will be necessary before the test. But this is happening for the first time, and I really feel strange.

@soran Period delays can sometimes be due to hormonal reasons, stress, excessive exercise, or weight changes. But 15 days is a bit long; maybe you should first ensure accuracy with a pharmacy test. If it's negative, it would be beneficial to see a doctor because such a delay is unusual.

Honey, to be frank, if your boyfriend isn't taking this seriously, that's a problem in itself. These things shouldn't be postponed. Even if you say you're stressed every other day, that’s not how these things get resolved. If you were my daughter, the first thing I'd do is take you to the doctor; I wouldn't listen to what your boyfriend says, no doubt about it.

In the past, couples would sit down and think about these situations, looking for a healthy solution. Now everyone is saying "you do it, I'm not doing it." If your partner is indifferent, it feels like this will be the same with bigger issues in the future.
