Girls, I walked into a hairdresser without an appointment because I urgently needed to get rid of some split ends. I specifically said to cut only 2 cm, don’t cut more than that. But they cut at least 15 cm from the top. I was growing my hair so carefully, and now when I look in the mirror, I don’t recognize myself. What do you think I should have done in this situation? I will never go back to that place again, but my confidence is shattered.

9It’s always the same thing at these hair salons. I experienced the same thing last year; I said “just take a little off the ends,” and they even thinned out my thick hair! Honestly, it’s the hairdresser’s fault because I was detailed in my request; they need to do their job properly 
Okay, you’re right, but I’m curious, did you notice it at that moment? Because when you cut 15 cm, it must have been obvious; didn’t you have any chance to intervene?

Absolutely, this is a violation of consent, meaning nobody has the right to make changes to your body or hair without your permission. They can’t justify it by saying ‘but it was healthier.’ This is completely the hairdresser’s fault.
It seems like they didn’t do it accidentally. They might have misunderstood you or cut your hair deliberately. Some hairdressers apply their own styles, maybe that was what happened 
This is actually a very common situation. The customer says ‘2 cm’ but when the hairstylist takes the fine tips, they tend to chop the overall shape of the hair, leading to a loss of length. My advice is to have a detailed conversation with the hairstylist in front of a mirror next time and, if necessary, show pictures.
@hayalkafa but this is a bit of an exaggeration, talking about vision and all. I think it’s simply a case of negligence or not listening to the customer. Let’s not attribute bad intentions to every hairdresser. Also, as stylatik said, I believe it is essential to give clear instructions.
I think both long and short can be beautiful, but of course everyone’s taste is different. Maybe your friend is used to the features of long hair. Calm down, I’m sure short hair is quite beautiful too 
I think short hair grows faster, it gets stronger the more you cut it, it doesn’t seem like an urban legend. Your hair will be healthier now.
