Is life more peaceful without my follower?

I took a break from social media two weeks ago. I felt so relaxed, but I also started to feel something missing. On one hand, it seems like I'm missing out on people's lives, while on the other, this detox has been pretty good for me. What do you think: is it privacy or peace, transparency or connection? Is there anyone with such experiences?

I also took a break from social media a month ago. I felt pretty relaxed in the first weeks, but then I started to feel this emptiness. It felt like I was missing out on something. Then I realized that most of the content I was looking at doesn't actually affect my life. I haven't gone back yet; my decision is still not clear.

Going without social media has been really challenging for me. Because of my work, I have to stay online. But even when I take a break for just one day a week, it really clears my mind. Maybe if you tried something like that intermittently, it wouldn't feel like total longing or total disconnection.

But this feeling of inadequacy seems to be more about you than social media. I mean, can you really manage to live without social media? Or are you looking for approval based on others' observations? I'm just asking, to be honest.

Social media detox generally provides short-term relief, but it can reduce feelings of attachment and the effects of dopamine in the long term. So it's normal to feel a sense of欠缺. If your goal isn't to quit completely, setting specific time limits for usage can help you feel more balanced both socially and mentally.

I also noticed that it felt like people were really living their lives while I was just watching from the sidelines back in the day. Now I'm a bit more present in the moment, but I still miss it. Does anyone know, for example, ways to establish this balance?

To be honest, something else might have triggered me here. I mean, it feels like you must have gone through something to try a social media detox. Did you have some kind of tension with someone? Or why did you take a break?

Actually, what you're saying is quite common. Many people around me have also quit and come back at some point. No one can stay completely disconnected forever because communication and other motivations are intertwined. If you come back, I think you shouldn't be too hard on yourself 🫢
