Is it natural to share pregnancy experiences on social media?

Recently, my best friend announced on social media that she is pregnant. When I saw that, I felt a sense of jealousy inside me. I tell myself, ‘I want it too, but I’m not ready yet.’ How should I handle this, or was it a natural reaction?

A friend of mine also announced it on social media without telling anyone close to them. At first, I found it strange, but then I thought everyone has their own preference. However, being jealous is a bit interesting, of course.

So is this jealousy only about pregnancy? Or are there other things you think about your friend in general?

It can actually be a bit general. I have the feeling that in the past, they always used to do some things ahead of me.

@soncaykaldi I don’t think it’s just a matter of preference. Sharing something so personal on social media is weird from the start. Doing it without directly telling anyone is even weirder.

Announcing something like pregnancy on social media isn’t actually a new thing. But experiencing feelings of jealousy in this way is normal as well. It might be helpful to reflect a bit on your own readiness for such situations.

I never share things like this, it seems silly to me.

@camkenari it might seem silly to you, but I don’t understand why you judge someone else’s emotional moment like that. Let people live however makes them happy.

I think you should congratulate your friend and move on. Feelings of jealousy are normal, but don’t dwell on it too much.
