I said 'this feels familiar' to Storysine, and they blocked me immediately

When I saw the story of a phenomenon, it felt extremely familiar, as if we had met somewhere before. I wrote, 'I feel like I know you,' and added nothing else. But less than a minute after sending the message, I got blocked. I was honestly quite upset, are people this sensitive? Is this a normal reaction or did I misunderstand something?

I've experienced a similar situation too, honestly. I sent someone a sincere comment via DM, expecting a reply of "sounds good," and within 5 minutes I got blocked. Turns out they misunderstood what I said; I don't know who they mixed me up with, but I'm sure they had some past trauma. Maybe this phenomenon has also had bad experiences before? Sometimes people become overly sensitive.

When she said you seemed familiar, did she think you were stalking her in some way? Or did you remind her of someone special? There's something odd about this, but I'm not sure 😅

@dedikoducu not here, stalking probably wouldn't even cross my mind. There's nothing like that on my profile anyway. I just thought maybe I was reminded of someone's ex or something 🫠

@deneyimli honestly, I kind of understand the sensitivity of that phenomenon too; people can send DMs with silly intentions just because they recognize someone in a story. Nowadays, social media has become a risky place tailored to such tastes. Maybe the previous person wrote something bad to them, who knows.

This actually falls under the issue of 'setting boundaries' in social media psychology. Phenomena often feel uncomfortable with even the first message from a stranger because they deal with dozens of absurd messages every day. You may be innocent, but to them, it can come off as 'familiar' and be perceived as potentially uncomfortable.

I want to say something, when they said 'it sounds familiar,' did they interpret it as something intimate? Influencers usually dress quite revealingly, maybe that's why there was a sensitivity 🙄

@mahrem_saf this is a mistaken perception. It's not true that every person who dresses revealingly reacts this way. We must respect people's sensitivities; for example, if they blocked you, just let it go.

A friend of mine had messaged a celebrity in their DMs saying, 'Sister, your breasts are really beautiful!' Of course, they immediately got blocked. They didn't write a story about it, but later said, 'They're sensitive because they get harassed, you shouldn't be surprised.' I suppose they're right?

I think we should just let it be now. If they block it, they block it. Maybe if it opens up in a different way in the future, an apology will come. I don't think we should engage any further 🤦‍♀️
