Which is safer: tampons or pads?

I always used pads during my period, but recently I want to try tampons. I’m a bit confused because I’ve heard that tampons can be risky for health. Which one do you think is more sensible? Do you have any experiences?

I used to be someone who always used pads like you, but then I wanted to try tampons during the summer vacation. At first, I was quite nervous, but once I positioned it correctly, it was incredibly comfortable. You just have to be careful not to keep it in for too long; I forgot it once and ended up with an infection. Be mindful of the duration so you don’t have any problems.

So which brand did you choose, were you comfortable? I want to try it too, but there are so many options, I’m unsure which one is reliable.

I think most of those who say this is risky are just talking based on hearsay. A friend of mine was also afraid to use it, but we learned that someone had incorrectly put it on someone else. So a lot of it could be made up, I don’t know what to believe.

But it seems like you want to dive in without being fully prepared. First, do your research, read the pamphlet and all. You say you’re scared, but of course, there will be risks if you use it mindlessly.

In fact, when used properly, a tampon is quite safe. The biggest risk is TSS, or Toxic Shock Syndrome; this usually happens when it’s not changed for a long time. It’s very important to change it every 4-6 hours and to insert and remove it hygienically.

Honestly, I gathered my courage and got a tampon to try it out. At first, I struggled a lot with placement, but I tried sitting down and it was a bit easier. However, I couldn’t muster the courage to keep it in for more than 2 hours; I guess I need to get used to it.

The first feeling when you try it is really strange; it’s like you’re uncomfortable, as if you’ve forgotten something. But you get used to it; after a couple of days, it will become easier. Just make sure to learn how to put it on correctly.
