I hid the test stick in my bag, my girlfriend saw it

Last week, when my period was late, I bought a test from the pharmacy. The result was positive, but I didn't know what to do, so I kept it hidden in my bag. My boyfriend found it while rummaging through my bag. Now he keeps asking, "What is this?" I didn't want to say anything without thinking first, and now I don't know how to explain it. What can I do?

Honestly, I think your partner was in the wrong. Going through your bag is basically invading your personal space. I mean, in the end, you just didn’t want to say anything before being asked, and I think you were right about that. They came at you with accusations right away; I wish they’d shown a little empathy. It sounds like there are some communication issues in your relationship, but I’d say try having a calm conversation first. Maybe ask why they acted that way, and things might become a bit clearer.

Is this the first time this is happening? I mean, has your partner done this kind of mixing up before? If it's always like this, then the real issue here seems to be more than just the test 😐

@gercekci actually yes, it doesn’t seem like this is the first time. They had messed with my phone once before, but I thought we had talked it through. Now I'm really confused since this happened again 🥲

@mesafe_emekci I think you’re looking at this very romantically. If there’s something so important in your bag, I think it’s normal for your partner to react like that. Anyone would be taken aback. But of course, mixing things up is a separate issue; we should talk about that too, but your silence while asking the question might be annoying for the other person.

In such special matters, communication is very, very important. First of all, rummaging through the bag, yes, is considered a breach of privacy, but it is completely related to intent. If your test result is positive, it would be good to clarify this with a doctor from the start. You can confirm it with a quick blood test, for example. When talking with your partner, if you provide clear information, their reaction may be more reasonable.
