My aunt threw away my cream, calling it 'waste'

I was doing skincare with my cousin. To not break the routine, I had some serums, moisturizers, and so on. My aunt came into the room and said, 'Is it worth spending this much money on these? This is wasteful!' and literally threw some of them in the trash. Now I feel embarrassed towards her and I'm also upset that my products are gone. Should I have defended myself, or am I overreacting?
