Bills at my new home turned out higher than I expected

The total of my electricity, water, and internet bills in the new place I’ve moved into exceeds my monthly budget. I think my electricity consumption might be high, but the bills cover different date ranges; the water utility also said there doesn’t seem to be a problem with the meter. Do you think I should compare the usage amounts first, or separate out the days covered by the bills and the fixed charges?

Is internet included, or have the bills gone retrograde too, depending on the apartment?

@retrogradcivata, having internet included in the total doesn’t explain it by itself. First compare the usage on each bill and the reading dates with the previous period; if the number of days is different, the total amount can be misleading. It’s also worth checking the meter reading against the one on the bill.

Internet is included in the total too. When I opened the bills, I noticed that the electricity and water meter-reading periods don’t match; I’ll first separate out each item according to its own billing period.

As @laboratuvarterligi said, comparing the quantities is a good starting point. I’d also keep fixed charges separate from variable consumption; that makes it easier to see whether the increase is due to usage or tariff charges.
