Resisting hunger or rewarding myself?

I started my diet a few months ago by counting calories. Honestly, it's going well, but at some point, I stumble during hunger crises. At that moment, I tell myself, 'what's the harm in a little cheat?' but then I regret it. This cycle is exhausting me. What do you do in these moments? Is it more important to resist hunger, or should we reward ourselves occasionally?

I don't think there's such a thing as resisting hunger; at some point, your body just gives in. While tracking calories, I would always end up eating a couple of slices of pizza at some point, and then I would continue more carefully. Don't stress yourself too much, but you also shouldn't miss out on reward day.

You can do this directly: Set yourself a reward but specify the portion in writing. Are you going to cheat today? That's fine, but for example, don't exceed 200 calories. This way, you maintain control and your guilt decreases.

I'm sorry, but if you're regretting this much, why can't you control yourself in the moment? If the chain breaks with every hunger crisis, then you haven't established your willpower from the start. Instead of always finding excuses, I think you should try to be more determined. Otherwise, you'll struggle like this every time.

Hunger crises can have a biological cause, usually signaling the body when there's a significant calorie deficit. That's why I recommend a more balanced plan. For instance, if you increase your fiber intake, it becomes easier to feel full, or you could consult a dietitian to prepare a balanced meal plan. That would also help reduce the crises.

Thank you for the comments, there are some very valid points. Actually, I'm on a 1200-1300 calorie diet, but some days I feel even hungrier when I exercise. Also, it seems like whatever I eat just won't be filling enough, maybe this gives you a good idea.

You know that feeling after working out, where it seems like no matter what you eat, it feels like it's not enough? I usually eat protein-rich foods after my workouts; they keep me full without feeling heavy. For example, you could try having a boiled egg with some yogurt on the side. It helps cut off the cravings before they kick in.
