He traveled 300 km because I cried

When I wrote this, I felt strange again. Years ago, on a very bad day, I had called my ex-spouse. Normally, I don’t show my troubles to anyone, but I was crying on the phone. An hour later, the doorbell rang; they had taken time off work to come see me. No flowers, no grand words, they just came, and that day felt like the safest thing in the world to me. Now we are apart, and it seems like no one can fill the place of such a gesture. Can a person forget something like this?

A guy like that is unforgettable. In today’s relationships, there are people who can’t even bother to make two stops, but this guy took time off work and came to your door. It’s not just words, it’s real effort :slightly_smiling_face:

Unforgettable.

In an hour, 300 km is a bit contrary to the laws of physics. Did the guy come by helicopter? That’s what I’m stuck on.

Everyone is caught up in the distance calculation, but that’s not the point. The woman cried and the man wanted to be there for her. Sometimes, what makes a relationship unforgettable is exactly this reflex :smiling_face_with_tear:

Such things are nice, but if they’re held against you when parting, it can ruin everything. If you’re putting in effort, you should do it wholeheartedly, and the other side should appreciate it :joy:

My ex-girlfriend came to the hospital at 3 a.m., and I still think about it. The relationship is over, but the place that moment left in me doesn’t fade. Sometimes, a person is not missed, but rather that feeling of security.

What you miss here might not just be a person; it could be the feeling of being seen and held in a crisis moment. This creates a very strong bond. But comparing your current life to a single grand gesture from the past can close you off to new relationships :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I guess you’re right, I got a bit stuck on that feeling of security. Our separation wasn’t bad, but when I think of that moment, it feels like I’m doing an injustice to other people. It feels lacking since no one else is doing the same thing :face_with_peeking_eye:

I was wondering what your reason for leaving was. Because breaking up with a guy like that is a whole different story.

A guy who comes like this must be good, but it’s strange romanticism. A person can travel 300 km, but it can be tiring from another place, don’t forget that. No one becomes an angel with just one gesture.

Still, the place of the person who builds the road is different. It’s not about spending money, it’s about breaking their own order to say ‘you shouldn’t be alone right now.’ I think that’s very valuable.

I think you should keep this memory as a sign rather than a metric. Don’t expect 300 km from a new person, but see if they’re there for you on your tough days, or if they brush you off. It’s not about the same actions; it’s about the same feelings.

It seems that limits and records are more important here than emotion. It would be safer to save messages, payments, conversations—whatever it is—and then proceed calmly.
