Is it bad that my friend's weight loss makes me envious?

We had started a diet together, but it seems like she's getting results faster. To be honest, I'm confused whether there's jealousy involved or if I'm questioning my own belief in myself. Should I support her by saying she knows what she's doing, or should I focus on myself?

My daughter, something similar happened with my daughter. Her friend lost weight very quickly, and ours sulked for days. I told her then that everyone’s body is different. Instead of focusing on her, look at your own progress. The body will adjust, but I'm not saying just leave it to time; just staying consistent is enough.

But I also dieted with a friend in previous years, and I got stressed because my weight was not dropping as quickly. It turned out to be a difference in metabolism. We were doing the same things, but I saw results later. I didn't give up, and after 4 months, I got back on track.

I know this feeling... You wake up in the morning, the number on the scale hasn’t gone down again, and then when you talk to them, they say, 'Oh, I lost two more kilos.' Just laughing at their face is a whole different burden. It feels like your own motivation is melting away.

Jealousy is natural, but the problem is, why can't you trust your own pace? If what they do makes you upset, maybe you are focusing too much on them. Their success has nothing to do with you. Or is this jealousy stemming a bit from you?

Making comparisons in weight loss processes like this can be quite risky. Factors such as metabolic rate and body composition are different. It would be good to focus on your own progress chart. If you're constantly feeling demoralized, it might be healthy to approach this process with a nutritionist.

Thanks everyone. Actually, yes, I know there are differences in metabolism, but I keep watching it, sometimes I get frustrated asking myself, 'why isn't this happening for me?' What you said makes sense; maybe I need to work a bit more on my internal motivation.

But I want to ask something... Is she really following the diet or is she doing something else? Because some people do shocking things to lose weight that fast. I even wondered if it could harm her; could she be doing something extra besides what she told you?
