My friend copied my writing and shared it as their own

I had a piece I've been working on for three months, and everyone loved it because I shared it on social media. But my closest friend shared the piece on their page without mentioning my name even once. They presented it as if it were their own work. How can I explain this? Or should I just ignore it without saying anything?

I think you should just confront them directly. You could say something like, 'This piece is mine; you probably forgot to tag me?' If they're already getting cheeky about even translating this, they're not really a friend.

You mentioned you've been struggling for three months, but is this the first time it's happened? Have you had someone take ownership of your work like this before? 😳

@bozkirli Actually, it's not the first time... I made a design last year, and he pretended like he made it in a competition. But I didn't push it back then.

@aysegul34 why should she confront directly? I don't think it's necessary to escalate the situation. Friendship shouldn't be destroyed over small things like this. Plus, maybe she really has forgotten.

This is a bit of copyright infringement. If the writing is yours and you can document it, you can claim your rights. But I suggest you make a friendly warning first. Even if it's your friend, this is an ethical issue.

@bursalihanim is it a small thing? People have been putting in effort for months, and not even a thank you. This is literally labor theft, it's not something that can be defended by friendship 🤔

It happened to me too. A friend of mine stole my recipe and shared it in their story, even replying to the messages they got. It hit me hard back then. So I think you shouldn't stay silent, speak up 😂
