I'm unemployed but pregnant, should I tell or keep it a secret?

I’m 22 years old, and despite using protection with my girlfriend, I unexpectedly became pregnant. My family is very conservative, and I’m afraid they will ostracize me. My boyfriend is by my side, but this burden feels like it’s all on me. If you were in my position, would you tell your family right away, or would you keep it a secret to buy time to think? Does anyone have any suggestions for a way out?

I think it’s better not to say it right away, buy yourself some time. I too was very scared because of an incident I experienced with my girlfriend once. Since my family is conservative, I kept it from my mom for months. At least when you find a solution, you’ll feel stronger.

It’s really hard to wake up in the morning feeling like there’s a knot in your stomach, especially when it feels like you’re carrying that fear all by yourself. I think your partner should be there when you talk to your family so they know you feel alone.

I think you should first see a gynecologist to get a clear understanding of how the pregnancy is going. Then, have a detailed conversation with your partner to determine the path you will take. It would be more sensible to go to the family with that plan.

So, typically in our society, they immediately blame the girl. Explain it clearly and at the right time to your family so they don’t find out behind your back. But if your girlfriend stands by you, things will get easier; that’s important :smiling_face_with_tear:

I think it gets a bit easier if your partner is by your side. It’s quite common for guys to run away in these situations. But like he said, if they’re there and supportive, act together by thinking it through. It also shares the load.

I’m sorry, but isn’t it a bit careless to end up in this situation despite using protection with your partner? It seems to me that someone raised in a conservative family would be more careful. Before getting mad at your family, take a look in the mirror first.

I have a question for you. You say your family is very conservative. Have they noticed that you had a girlfriend before, or are they completely unaware? I think you need to adjust the way you discuss the topic accordingly.

In such situations, I recommend seeking psychological support from a professional instead of immediately talking and piling on stress. You can also consult a lawyer about your legal rights concerning your girlfriend or child. Don’t neglect to closely monitor your pregnancy as a health concern.

Thanks everyone, actually my girlfriend and I are trying to talk and make a plan, but my fear regarding my family’s reaction hasn’t gone away. My mom and dad don’t know that I have a girlfriend at all, so I’ve been hiding it from the very beginning. We’re waiting for the right moment to tell them, but it’s really hard.
