When I mentioned the birth control pill, my mom said, 'Are you sick, girl?'

My mom saw the birth control pills I'm about to start and gave an incredible reaction. She started saying, 'Are you sick, why do you need such things?' Interestingly, while claiming to think quite modernly, she herself also used them back in the day. What do you think is the reason for such reactions? How can I convince my mom, or should I just not involve her at all?

I was about to tell my mom the same thing, but I acted like I hadn't had the prescription written by the doctor. I said, 'She prescribed it for women's issues,' and honestly, she didn't say anything. Sometimes you need to dodge like that; they shouldn't overanalyze it.

What kind of logic is this? Why do you feel the need to explain? Is the world going to turn upside down if you don't tell your mom? There's something called privacy. I don't think you should waste energy trying to convince.

Most people think of birth control pills solely as a means of protection, but they can also be prescribed for hormonal regulation, severe menstrual pain, and polycystic ovary syndrome. If your doctor has prescribed it, you can trust that it is for the right purpose. Knowing this might put your mother’s mind at ease.

My friends, my mother actually looks quite modern; she's an entrepreneur and all, but suddenly she took a step back on this issue. She thinks it's some kind of illness. I'm going to try to soften her attitude a bit, and I thought I'd also try to use the doctor as an excuse.

They say it's polycystic ovaries, but some people say: 'It causes hair growth and weight gain'. Who are we supposed to believe? I can't trust it because everyone's doctor says something different.

Come on, don’t be ridiculous, stuff like this has been researched for years. If your doctor wrote it, they’ve accounted for every detail. As for your modern mom, sometimes I’d say old traumas get stuck with them. Moms are amazing and modern, but their own ‘fear stories’ are never forgotten. :)

Looking at it like Ece, the detail that seems small here is actually at the center of the issue. If I were in your place, I wouldn't make a definitive decision without asking about that detail.
