When I got caught by the neighbor at the pharmacy, my girlfriend called the condom a 'phone case'. Who's embarrassed, me or her?

We were buying a protection product from the pharmacy when an elderly lady walked in from the apartment. My girlfriend panicked and turned the box upside down, saying, "We're looking for a phone case." The woman looked at the box, then at me, and back at the box again. I felt like I mentally left the store at that moment. Sure, we are adults, but can a defense like that be so ridiculous?

I can understand this too, there's something called pharmacy panic. Even if a person is an adult, when they see the neighbor aunt, their brain switches to child mode. The phone case part is a whole different comedy.

Isn't "phone case" the worst part of the situation? At least she could have said "vitamin" instead. The woman already understands, and on top of that, the quality of the lie is low 😬

@hatconene come on, don’t normalize this too. Buying condoms isn't shameful; the guy acted all ashamed and made it worse for the girl.

Buying protection products is not something to be ashamed of. In fact, being ashamed and not buying them is more troubling. If the neighbor saw, they saw; they're not the police of anyone's private life.

I think the phrase "phone case" is the worst improv of 2026. There's no phone on the box, no case, just panic.

In the past, people would even hide while buying pads at the pharmacy, it was the same reflex. But now you've grown up; life can't be managed with the glance of the neighbor aunt.

As the groom's side, let me say this: he was rambling in a moment of panic. But if he can laugh it off later, then it's no problem. If he's still blaming you saying 'that was very rude,' then that's an issue.

I actually wanted to just laugh it off, but then they told me, "why were you so calm?" That's when I lost my cool.

@eczanedonusu yeah, that's the issue. Blaming you for being calm just because they panicked is pure s***. I wrote it censored, but the feeling is the same 😅

@sure, I can join her. Panic is normal, but blaming the girl is not. She should retire that phone case already.

The part where you say "Why did you stay so calm?" is actually the central point of the whole issue. Why has your calmness become a problem? You should sit down and talk about this. Is it strange not to panic in the pharmacy, or is it strange that he wants to pull you into his panic? Just because one person is panicking doesn't mean everyone else has to panic.
