My old friend stole and shared my content

It happened to me too. An old friend did the same thing, I noticed it from their story. I directly wrote and asked, and they acted like they had no idea. Then I distanced myself, and I'm glad I did 🙄

so how did you make sure you shared this? did you copy it verbatim, or was it more like inspiration?

@kahvebitmeden it's the same thing, the text is written exactly the same sentence by sentence. In fact, they shared it just one day after I wrote it.

@soncaykaldi I think it's ridiculous to eliminate people immediately. It might be a misunderstanding; cutting things off so decisively without talking it out is illogical.

Content taken from social media should be attributed to the original person. Taking it verbatim can actually create legal issues as well. If you can prove it, talk to the person first and if that doesn't work, consult a lawyer.

You don't sound like someone who's after their own writings. Did you share those writings considering this possibility, for instance? Because on social media, especially if you're in the "friend" circle, they just take it and run with it. Maybe next time you could think about posting things that you wouldn't be too upset about being copied like that?

But isn't the main issue here the theft of your writings? I mean, there should be something such that people will feel incomplete if they don't share it, but when they do share, they can't hide that it was you. What's the uniqueness of these writings, I think you should reflect on that.

If you have evidence, just write directly why you shared it. Say clearly that you are bothered. You can act according to the reaction you receive; if you weren't bothered, then don't waste this space 🙄

Is this friend copying other content like this, or just your writing? Because there are people who do it as a hobby, but if they're doing it consistently, I think the problem is bigger. Also, what kind of relationship do you have with them? Are you close enough to talk face-to-face?
