Liked his ex's story with a heart

I’ve been talking to this guy I’ve been flirting with for 2 months. Everything is going pretty well, he teases me sometimes but it seems fine. But today, a friend sent me a screenshot. He left a heart emoji on his ex’s story. At first, I thought it was a joke, but it turns out it was real. Now, I don’t even know how to ask about it. Would it be unnecessary to act upset, or would it be better not to ask? Don’t things like this get forgotten?

But now, a heartbeat might not mean much on its own, but things change when it’s about an ex. I think what’s important here is your attitude, meaning you shouldn’t hold back your words in such matters. But instead of playing games, you can make a more polite hint. That way, you’ll also see their level.

Has she unfollowed her ex? I mean, if she occasionally appears in stories, she might have wanted to show some reaction. That doesn’t necessarily mean there’s an emotional bond, right? It could just be a move out of courtesy.

@erkek_bakisi no, they are still following. In fact, they were following when he started flirting with me. But the story issue happened for the first time.

@soran but if they are still following and it doesn’t bother you, why is it a problem now? I think you should have clarified this from the beginning. In the current situation, you seem a bit indecisive and also a bit bothered. There’s some confusion in this matter.

I think it’s basically this: people can see staying in touch with an ex on Instagram as normal. It’s totally up to you and their understanding of boundaries. A heart emoji can mean something to some, while to others it doesn’t. If this is a significant boundary violation for you, you need to express that clearly. But remember, not every connection with an ex is the same.

I had a similar experience, but it ended worse. He was reacting to his ex-girlfriend’s stories, and I found out somehow and asked him about it. He casually said it was just a “friendly gesture” or something like that, but it turned out he was secretly messaging her too. Of course, we broke up. That’s why I suggest you don’t underestimate these things. Just talk to him openly and directly.

@zevk_goreceli I’m sorry, but this kind of ‘normalization’ really seems strange to me. A ‘friendly bond’ with an ex, what kind of friendship is that? In our time, people were clearer in their relationships. Now it’s all about watching stories on Instagram, sending reels. Is that how a relationship works? Trust is disappearing.
