My partner is ending every message with a period, are they taking me to court?

Usually, a period is a nice thing, but seeing “okay” makes me feel like a courtroom is opening inside me. Do you think it’s coldness or a love for punctuation?

I wouldn’t directly suspect bad intentions here, but I also wouldn’t throw away the comedic material within it. Such things are like the absurd salt of daily life. It’s become a strange yet realistic concern fitting for the Love, Dating & Relationships category.

Maybe he/she is trying to keep it brief with minimal expressions because he/she doesn’t like chatting on the phone? The ellipsis seems a bit cold, but sometimes it’s just a habit; I would suggest not getting caught up in a strong sense of formality. But if you’re really bothered by it, you could lightly probe with a slightly teasing question like, “Do you always write like this with ellipses?”
