Someone used my photo that I didn't share, what should I do?

I saw a photo of mine in a close friend's story that I had never shared anywhere before. I didn't send it to anyone, and it's not on social media anyway. As I think about whether this friend could have done something like that, I either get angry or I'm upset with myself for possibly giving away a clue somewhere. Do you think I should talk about this or just silently block them and move on?

Something similar happened to me too. An old friend shared my photo on their WhatsApp story, which I hadn't sent to anyone. Later, I learned that they might have gotten it from an old backup on the phone. Honestly, I didn't understand it at first either, but I calmly asked and it got cleared up.

I think you should talk instead of blocking. I once quietly went on my way, and then the situation escalated. They did new things behind my back, and I couldn't take any precautions. I'd say listen to their explanation; maybe it's not as you think 😳

I think there's a high chance that you unknowingly put it somewhere. Did you check if it's saved on your phone or in the cloud? Sometimes, saying 'No, I'm not doing anything' can lead to these kinds of mistakes 😅

First of all, it's worth knowing that if your photo has been saved on social media or on a backup service, it is technically possible for someone else to access it. Assuming that your friend did not share it with good intentions, you could consult a lawyer. You have the right to protect your own privacy.

Let me add something, this photo was taken at an event with my family. I hadn't shared it with anyone around me. I have someone else in mind who took the photo, but I can't ask them directly because it would seem like I'm blaming them. I'm really confused 🫣

Can I tell you something? I think there's something else going on here. It's impossible for such a personal thing to be completely out in the open. I suggest you take another look at who took the photo; it might be a very different situation. It feels like there’s a definite connection, but what is it?

That's really annoying then. The moment you see someone looking at their phone like that in the morning is seriously frustrating. Especially when you can't blame them, it really gets to you. I think this topic deserves a calm but direct conversation.
