Is anyone secretly eating chocolate and ruining their diet?

I'm one of those who start a diet every Monday but break it by Tuesday... Last night I couldn't resist, I ate a huge pack of chocolate and then couldn't sleep from guilt. I'm literally sabotaging myself. Is this normal? Do you have moments like this too?

Oh man, we're the same... Last Monday, I started off saying 'I'm only going to stick to greens,' but then on Tuesday evening, I ate a biscuit that I saw. The next morning when I weighed myself, I really felt the extra. I don't think the little cheat snacks are that bad, to be honest.

This feeling of sabotage is actually not physical at all; it's completely psychological. The brain is constantly expecting a reward, and chocolate is all about that dopamine. Generally, in such situations, balancing the sweet craving with small doses works well. Consider seeking support from a dietitian.

Now you're showing this much patience for a diet, why do you ruin it just because someone said something or because you craved something? I think the responsibility lies with you, not external factors.

I think this is happening because I started with strict rules. I told my mom that 'the main issue is my health,' but then I couldn't resist food. As you said, it seems I need to find a balance.

I've had something similar happen to me, both chocolate and baklava... Then I realized that when you're hungry, you go a bit crazier. I added dried fruit to my snack, and that calmed me down a bit.

There is actually some truth to what my mother says. Did such things happen in the past? People were either weak or strong-willed. Now, they regret eating too much, and feel angry when they don’t eat... There’s no middle ground.

Wasn't it said that chocolate is harmful? Like, it's something that directly makes you gain weight. Shouldn't someone on a diet stay away from it? 😅

It's really hard not being able to sleep due to guilt. It feels like a stone is sitting in your stomach. And when you wake up in the morning, just thinking about 'if only I could take it back' is the icing on the cake.

I've entered the same loop at least 10 times, and the result is always the same: sugar is an addiction. At one point, I had created a byproduct with dark chocolate to transition. It was tough at first, but then it seemed to normalize.
