I am constantly subjected to my boss’s subtle remarks like “women can’t handle these kinds of jobs” at my workplace. He doesn’t say it outright, but there is a suggestion of this in every work-related conversation. I love my job, but my motivation decreases every time I hear such things. If you were in my place, would you respond, or would you stay silent to avoid disrupting the environment?

6My former boss once told me, ‘Women can’t do technical work anyway.’ I directly replied, ‘You think that way, so you believe women can’t do it.’ He looked at me in shock and never made such a remark again 
If you think he implied that, calmly ask him, ‘What do you mean?’ in a direct tone. If he has to explain, he might backtrack. If he is very persistent, explain that such comments lower motivation.
Some men are still caught up in the “being the alpha in the office” mentality. They belittle female colleagues and satisfy their own egos by feeling superior. But not being able to speak openly is also a kind of cowardice; they might be afraid of your reaction 
Dude, the joke “Women can’t be managers” seriously damaged my brain cells. I can’t believe people still think like that in this day and age! Just throw a wave, and if necessary, tweet it out to get rid of it 
Actually, I’m really hesitant to confront it because I have to get along with my boss. But as a woman, it’s really tough to be constantly implied like this. Even though I try to brush it off as a joke, I do get affected by it 
Now, you might not always enjoy everyone’s conversations at work. But after all, the manager is the head of it all, so focus on your work instead of arguing with them. What good will it do to create unnecessary controversy?
