The boss couldn't stop praising me at the meeting

Today at work, my boss praised me by highlighting my accomplishments during a meeting. But afterwards, I faced the ambitious gazes of my colleagues. I wonder if this situation will make me more of a target at work? I don’t even know if I can defend my achievements enough.

I think they are jealous.

my patron praised me once, then they started to control my work more strictly. I suggest you keep your eyes wide open.

Come on now. Why does everyone get into the jealous mode? Maybe you’re just too sensitive, they might be watching out for you for teamwork instead.

@hatconene Actually, this isn’t the first time; it has happened before, but this time the reactions seemed more pronounced.

@aklimkaldi I think it’s normal, after all if the boss is praising you, others might feel a bit uncomfortable. But you focus on your work, they haven’t said anything.

In such situations, connect the work done to the team’s success. Creating a sense of “We achieved this together” reduces tension in the workplace. However, if you are genuinely being excluded, it would be wise to inform human resources about the situation in advance.

I think you shouldn’t engage in controversy, just do your job well and show the difference. Continue quietly, no one will do anything.

It’s nice for your boss to praise you, but attracting too much attention can also be a problem. Making a move without being sure whether those glances are from motivation or ambition is risky. If you see a move against you, that’s when you should take a stand.

Was it a specific compliment that would disturb others? If it was something like, “Kapionu did this job all by himself,” the team might be reacting due to feelings of exclusion. Is it up to you to distribute that praise or not? Take a look at that.
