Recently, my boss hasn’t hesitated to mock me at all. They point out every mistake I make in meetings or at work right to my face. I got even more upset when I heard that a friend of mine is going through the same treatment. Now I’m feeling bad about it; how can I get past this? Or maybe it’s time to set some boundaries somewhere.
It’s another level of irritation when your boss wraps this up as a joke. If someone at work is belittling you, first gather written evidence, then try talking to them like a decent person. If that doesn’t work, don’t try to convince yourself that ‘I misunderstood’; you really have been humiliated.
@hatconene you’re right, if the boss is teasing, he definitely was like this as a kid. I think we should just tell these types straight to their face, ‘you’re not funny’.
@meric come on, don’t regress into your childhood. We’re talking about human resources, not filming a family drama. Sometimes it’s wiser to stay quiet and gather evidence.
