I hid my irregular period for years, did I do the wrong thing?

I've had irregular periods for years, but to be honest, I've always avoided going to the doctor. I was afraid of finding out the results and didn't want to discuss such things. I never told my family either; they thought it was normal. Now I'm thinking that I might have neglected something serious. Do you think it's too late? Is there anyone else like me?

To be honest, there was a time when my period intervals were very long too; I hadn't had it for five months. My mom noticed and forced me to see a doctor. It turned out to be Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but I got better with medication thanks to early diagnosis. I completely understand the fears you had back then, but I wish you had gotten it checked.

No one says it now, but when I was a young girl, it was considered normal to hide things like this. But I think issues like irregular periods are serious and your family should understand their seriousness just as much as you do. To brush it off as something normal is a big mistake on their part 🫠

There has probably been a hormonal imbalance, but it could also be related to thyroid issues, stress-related conditions, or problems with the ovaries. A gynecological examination is essential, and they might also request a blood test. It's definitely not too late for you to go now; it's something that can happen to anyone.

Let me add that the irregularities usually lasted about 10-15 days, but there were times when I went without them for up to 3 months. If I asked my friends around me, they said the same thing, so I thought it wasn't as serious as I feared.

see a gynecologist directly. First, they will check with an ultrasound, and if necessary, tests like hormone tests will be conducted. If you can't tell your family, go alone, but it's better than postponing. No matter how long the irregularity has been, there is a treatment 😂
