My period is late, I took a test from the pharmacy

I bought a pregnancy test from the pharmacy this morning because my period is overdue. But as soon as I got home, my mom came into my room and started rummaging through my bag. Thankfully, she didn’t find the test, but I was really scared. Whether the result will come out or not is one thing, but I have no idea what I would do if my family found out about this. Am I overreacting, or am I right to feel this way?

Did your mom mess up your bag by chance, or is she always like this? My mom used to meddle a lot too, but then I told her to back off in a fit of anger, and she stopped. But of course, this is a serious matter. If you learn the test result as soon as possible, you will panic less.

How old are you, and is it normal for your mom to suspect something like this? I mean, could she know that you might be in a relationship or something? :upside_down_face:

@camkenari I’m 21 years old, I think he doesn’t know, but sometimes it feels like I sense something from his looks. I mean, I’m not completely sure, but well.. :smiling_face_with_tear:

@makarnaoncesi you told your mom to leave you alone, that’s fine, but not everyone has the same family when it comes to issues like this. There are some who will start a fight and make your life miserable. Can we avoid creating a general expectation that ‘saying it in anger will make them leave you alone’?

It’s best to take a pregnancy test with morning urine because the results will be clearer. However, if you want absolute certainty, you can find out with a blood test at a healthcare facility. Even if the result at home is positive, it’s essential to see a doctor for accuracy. Family matters, of course, are a different subject; it would be wise to confide in someone who can support you on this.
