Did my skin go crazy during the pandemic, is that normal?

During the pandemic, wearing a mask really took a toll on my skin. I constantly have little pimples and redness, and it feels like my skin can't breathe. I haven't been able to get my skin back to normal since then; it seems to have become more sensitive. Has anyone else experienced worsening skin during this time? How did you recover? What should I specifically apply to my face?

I've experienced the same thing, especially on days when I wear the mask for a long time. I got benzoyl peroxide cream, and it really helped my skin, but be careful applying it, it dries out a lot. I've also stopped wearing any makeup under the mask, and I've noticed the difference.

The acne and redness caused by masks is generally referred to as 'mask acne.' It's important to clean and moisturize the skin very gently for this. You can look for products containing salicylic acid or tea tree oil, but if the situation persists, I recommend seeing a dermatologist.

So, have you completely neglected your skincare since the pandemic ended, or are you still following the same routine? Also, did the type of mask you used make a difference? Was it disposable or fabric?

I think you might have stressed your skin a lot during that period. I mean, we already damaged our skin with the mask, and then using the wrong products or exfoliating too much really ruins it further. Sometimes it's better to just stop and let it recover 😅

Let me add that during that time I mostly wore surgical masks, I was using a daily cleansing gel but I never stopped. Right now my skin is still sensitive and turns red very quickly, whatever I apply feels strange 😬

My daughter, if she were my daughter, I would first make sure she drinks plenty of water, and then I wouldn't even apply cologne. It's clear her skin hasn't breathed, and you've also made it more sensitive. Just wash with plain olive oil soap and leave it be; it'll get better in three to five days. Don't apply products to everything.

During this period, most people have experienced interactions like yours, and I've had it too. But usually, there isn't any lasting damage; the skin renews itself when it receives gentle care. I also think you should go for less is more when applying cream, let your skin rest 🤦‍♀️
