Is it normal for my boyfriend to get a false result on a pregnancy test?

I tested positive last week, and I didn’t know how to explain it. When I told them, they immediately said, ‘Those tests are not reliable,’ and basically didn’t pay any attention. Now I’m even more confused. Is it really too optimistic to expect support in a situation like this? What do you think I should do during this process?

The reliability of these tests is actually quite high, providing accurate results 99% of the time. However, there is also the possibility of false positives; for example, certain medications or chemical imbalances can affect this. I recommend that you get a blood test for clarity, as the results will be definitive.

My spouse also didn’t believe that the test could be wrong when they first heard it, to be honest, so they might be trying to ignore it out of fear. Men sometimes react like this. I think you should be a little patient and try talking again.

I think you’re making a mistake by just focusing on your boyfriend’s reaction. You are responsible for your own confidence first. If you had gone straight to the doctor after taking the test, you wouldn’t have to deal with this confusion.

Let me add that his being so unresponsive scares me even more. I’m already thinking about going to the doctor, but his lack of support is disappointing. I don’t know how to approach this situation in a healthier way.

I have a question: has there been any conversation among you before about wanting a child? Because generally, men are either panicking or they truly don’t want it. I feel like something is being hidden from me here.

From what I know, if the tests are done before the period, they can always come back positive. Maybe that’s why she said that? Wouldn’t it be better to wait and try again?

Dude, I think you should create an environment where you can talk comfortably. For example, you could say something like “If it feels scary, let’s talk about it.” You know how guys get really defensive about these things, so I would say give it one more shot.

If there was a delay in your period and you took a test, that result is most likely accurate. However, if you’re taking medication or something new has happened, your hormones might be off. It’s essential to see a doctor for a clear answer; if you have pain or any other symptoms, don’t postpone it.
