The place I work is good in terms of salary but I can’t save much. I’ve opened a small boutique and I’m selling online through social media. Now I’m worried if my boss finds out. Should I mention things like this, or is it okay if he doesn’t notice?

9I was running a boutique business on social media just like you. When my boss found out, he immediately said, ‘You can’t do things like this without permission,’ and we got pretty tense. But when I spoke openly, he relaxed, and I continued. I suggest being clear.
If you’re going to tell your boss, explain that you started it as a hobby without beating around the bush. Emphasize that it hasn’t interfered with your work. But if you speak honestly from the beginning, at least there won’t be any problems in the future.
No one can meddle in what you do outside. The money you earn in your private life or the side job you do does not concern the place you work. If the salary was enough, you wouldn’t be opening a boutique anyway.
But why didn’t you inform your boss from the beginning when you started this job? If he finds out now, he might think things are happening behind your back. Maybe you also lack transparency.
From a labor law perspective, there usually won’t be an issue with doing side jobs as long as it doesn’t harm your company or create competition. However, you should review your employment contract. It would be better to share it if there is a clear clause regarding this.
Let me explain: the boutique started entirely as a hobby, and I have very few materials. I’m not harming my work, but I’m anxious about what would happen if sales increased. I’m still in the initial stages.
I think your concern is more about whether the boss will grow the business rather than anything else. Or are you afraid someone will take it to your boss or something? It seems like you have a feeling that they’re going to see some trouble in the growth aspect of the business.
My daughter, sincerity is always good. If
Is the company policy clear? For example, is it prohibited for employees to work elsewhere? Or has a past employee had issues due to a side job? If you don’t know these things, it’s not worth taking the risk.
