The other night, I had a disagreement with my family over what I ate for dinner. They encourage healthier living, but sometimes it feels like they go overboard. I don’t want to talk about my eating habits, but these discussions annoy me. How do you think I can find a balance?
It’s so ridiculous that they have to print stuff ![]()
I experienced the same thing. My mom constantly nagged me to “don’t eat this, eat that.” In the end, we had an argument, and then she stopped.
So why aren’t you saying “let me keep my eating routine” openly? Have you talked about it before?
I told @yazipsildim, but they keep coming back saying, ‘we care about your health.’ My parents are literally bringing it up one after the other.
@aklimkaldi but are they right? If they think you’re eating unhealthy things, it’s normal for them to worry about you. What exactly are you eating?
@pazardandondum you can’t decide that something is ‘unhealthy’ because everyone’s body needs are different.
Clarity of the situation is important. If there is indeed a health issue, you can talk to a dietitian and share their recommendations with the family. If that’s not the case, you can try to interrupt.
So I think instead of arguing about the food, just say ‘respect my decision on this’ and close it every time. Eventually, they’ll get tired of it.
@kirmizikazak but there are also families that continue for years without getting bored. I think this won’t change without addressing the root of the issue ![]()
